State Police search for the body of a man who went missing Saturday night after his canoe tipped over in Hemlock Lake. It was a tough assignment because the man's family was on shore with the reporter and I and asked me not to photograph them. It was so hard not to pick my camera up when they had so much emotion and I knew that really would have told the story of how much this man meant to them and the world. This little tiny boat photo just doesn't do it.

I was looking at the sixth edition of Photojournalism: The Professionals' Approach and came across some of Todd Heisler's photos. I have seen the photograph of Katherine Cathey sleeping next to her husband 2nd Lt. James Cathey's casket before but for some reason this time I soon as I saw it I started to cry. It was a nice reminder of how much power a single photograph can hold.
